Chill Down: A Vegan Golden Protein Mylk Feat. LivWell Nutrition

We’re already almost 2 weeks into March. I have been following my regime that I planned out in my March intentions: staying centered, letting go, being mindful. So far I’ve definitely been experiencing a sense of peace that was wholly needed and keeps me accountable. Except for Daylight Savings time making its lovely appearance, I definitely did not react well to the time change but hey, having an arsenal of ideas to bounce back to my routine helps, and so does this recipe!

Sticking to my mylks or mylk lattes, this one is more of a day time mylk. It’s spiked with LivWell Nutrition protein that is not your typical protein powder. For this mylk I used the Raw Plant Protein in Wild Vanilla Bean! It is gluten-free, vegan, and made up of a protein blend with whole foods such as organic sprouted brown rice, organic yellow peas, organic sacha inchi, organic hemp. There’s also some vanilla bean, coconut sugar, Ceylon cinnamon, & stevia for some added sweetness – all organic.

This blend boasts a good amount of calcium per serving and 17 grams of complete protein. Hemp is one of my favorite protein choices but I find I don’t get much of it unless I consciously remember to eat the seeds, so this protein makes that a bit easier since I always (literally always) remember to have a mylk during the day. Sacha Inchi is a seed from the Amazon that contains calcium, iron, and plant-based Omega-3 Fatty Acids. LivWell uses recyclable material for packaging which is another reason why I love their ethics as a company.

This is a Golden Protein Mylk since it also contains turmeric! I used the Gaia Herbs Golden Milk blend that pretty much has you covered: turmeric, dates, and herbs (black pepper for grounding cardamom, vanilla, and ashwagandha for that chill factor). It’s incredibly delicious and warming, creamy, and comforting. Reminiscent of a full bodied chai tea (because we use milk instead of water) and very rooting.

I like having this Golden Protein Mylk during the day or a weekend when I have a few hours to myself. Here’s a little rundown of what I do on my day off (if I’m lucky I’ll get the whole weekend!)

Move S l o w. // I take my time. I’ll wake I nthe morning, naturally, and welcome my dog with a brisk walk and then prepare breakfast. I’ll put one a Spotify mix and watch the sky outside or just mindfully eat breakfast. Generally, I’ll set my phone on silent so I’m not disrupted.

Tune Out // I’ll dedicate some time to reading or journaling. I’ll set a timer on my phone to block out that space. A cozy spot on the couch with a blanket (it’s still winter yall) and silence is nice. At this point I’ll also have my Golden Protein Mylk by my side.

Unwind // At the end of a solo day, I’ll grab some candles, find a meditative Spotify mix or podcast and take a warm shower with the lights out – only candlelight and which ever sound I pick that night. It’s therapeutic and I’ll also add dabs of essential oil to the shower (if you get fresh eucalyptus that’s also great). For me personally this brings about a way to reconnect with myself, unwind from the work week, and offers some peace.
