Zero Waste Beauty Gift Guide
Winter hasn’t arrived yet but the holiday spirit is alive and well.
I try to live as close to zero waste as possible. I encourage anyone to take smell steps such as swapping plastic straws for reusable ones. Other options: making a few meals from home, bringing reusable (I have cotton) bags to the farmers market. Plastic bags should become a thing of the past.
Living sustainably should not mean living perfectly. None of us are perfect and to put ourselves on that pedestal can lead to burnout or feel like we aren’t reaching a standard. My hope Is that someday living sustainably will not be viewed as an exclusive standard, but that it can become accessible for everyone.
This year’s beauty + lifestyle gift guide highlights some companies and brands I have been using through the year so they have my full stamp of approval and you can reuse or recycle each of the products packaging at the end of its use.
MOON JUICE Beauty Shroom Plumping Jelly Serum
/ Made with pure plant ingredients (highlights include Silver Ear Mushroom, Reishi Mushroom, Hyaluronic Acid). The founder of Moon juice is very adamant on creating products that are ingredient conscious and botanically based. These come in glass container/ 1 fl oz., that you can recycle or reuse for other purposes. This serum is so nice for plumping and soothing dry, sensitive skin. I’ve had mine for 5+ months now and still have a way to go before I need to refill it.
SUNSKI Glasses/ As a SUNSKI ambassador I have the joy in owning two beautiful pairs of Sunski Glasses. Each of the frames are made with recycled plastic –plastic that would typically go to landfill but is reutilized to create these unique shades. The shades are polarized and protect your eyes. I dread glasses of any kind because I found they never fit me properly. But – Sunski shades have been super comfortable to wear! I’m lucky to be an ambassador so s/o to Sunski for these frames. Meow Meow Tweet Natural Deodorant in Grapefruit
This is a brand I really love, because they have made great efforts to reducing plastic packaging. I have two of their products – including this one which is a grapefruit deodorant in a glass jar. It’s vegan and uses dietary magnesium and arrowroot powder in place of baking soda.
VERT Beauty Organic Concealer Pencil– Because this is a pencil, you will eventually sharpen it til you hit the end. It does come with a plastic cap which is the only waste this product will generate. It’s a vegan beauty product that contains vitamin E and shea butter, and jojoba oil. Its quite chunky which I like because you cover enough space when applying. Also it’s great for travel!
DONORE Lip & Cheek Pod– I have this color in cherry bomb and it’s a new favorite for the winter because my lips are always chapped or dry but this little product is key for combating that case. Donore lip & cheek pods are made with carrier oils (think jojoba, shea, sunflower) and essential oils. These lip colors come from fruit pigment and this one is a true cherry red. Packaged in glass jars which you can reuse when you hit pan.
There you have it! These are my zero waste winter gift guide picks for beauty. As mentioned all these products are cruelty free and vegan! Feel free to share your own and let me know if you’ll get any of these for your loved ones.
