San Clemente. Last Fall while I was deciding on where to go for a mini getaway I had so many ideas in mind but, my top priorities were: price, safety, and (duh) aesthetics. I was craving color and comfort but also ease of travel because sometimes public transportation or simply being within walking distance is preferable to explore the city.
Nestled in Orange County, San Clemente is an artsy but also lively beach city with plenty to explore and visit. The weather is really nice but I recommend bringing a cardigan or light coat if you decide to spend the night out. Its definitely a city I want to go back and explore. You can walk freely at night because literally everyone is awake. Whether they are grabbing a late night bite, walking back from the beach, finding some coffee, or hanging with friends. I love cities that are night owl friendly quite honestly. But don’t think that it’ll prevent a good sleep – the tourist and locals aren’t loud that you’ll need a sound machine or so. Even lounging at midnight with a movie and snack at your Air BNB is a treat.
I am a devout addict of plants. Give me some cacti, succulent, the inexpensive wildflower bouquets from Trader Joes or the farmer’s market, the deepest red roses. Truly anything that falls under the realm of botany is welcomed in my vicinity. I am a devout plant lady through & through.
Between bopping to Kacey Musgraves, Scarlett Johansson & Pete Yorn, and Drakes new tracks (have y’all listened to Nice For What? All these women are masterpieces) and enjoying my weekends out and creating adventures. I recently came back from a post birthday trip to Monterey & Carmel and cant wait to share that visit! Also, I’ve been indulging in a lot of veggie pizza and spending time singing out loud when the moment hits and smiling at strangers in hopes I can spark some light in someone’s day.
Lately I have been jamming to Against the Current, Camila Cabello, and Bat for Lashes through this winter weather. It finally did rain and I danced in puddles a little too much. I am seeking warmth in oil burners, lavender, and lit candles. It’s nice to have a shift in décor to remind you of wildflowers, honey sweet birdsong, and warmth on your skin. While I am truly enjoying the cold air and winter sun, a growing part of me is looking forward to springtime.
Still I have been making moon-milks (Moon Juice protein powder + raw cacao) and crocheting until the dawn (oops) I am making the most of winter. With a new year, I think of bloom, growth, and new beginnings. This January has been a mix of gatherings, rekindling friendships, and honestly – after long work days, ll you want is a bit of a rejuvenation (especially in the home!) I partnered up with Photowall to decorate my space and here’s the reveal of my reading nook + bed.
At the beginning of the year (roughly so) I select a word that will serve me through the year, standing for something I wish to invite and guide me. This year that word is rooted. It serves a purpose on a physical and metaphorical level.
I am truly motivated and enamored by passion. Feeling the spark, the fire of desire. However, it requires balance. It requires honing in with your voice and aligning with what makes you feel passionate, what lights up your spirit.
Rooted: 1. cause (a plant or cutting) to grow roots.
