I am someone thats constantly on the go, in fact I usually exhaust myself, and thats when the nap/sleep comes in. It’s all in my nature, to be in constant thought and creation. However balance in necessary to recharge and replenish yourself. Be it through detaching/unplugging to take some time out of the day to read a book, journal, or any activity that helps you to unwind. Personally I like accompanying my downtime with something to imbibe, preferably handmade.
The solution? Scooping some adaptogens in my mug. Moon Deli Meditation Tonic has been a newfound go-to when I want to step into a calmer atmosphere.
When it comes to skincare, I prefer to lean toward a botanical + natural route. Becoming conscious of what I apply on my skin is something I am taking slightly more seriously with each year. My prior skincare routine as limited to avoiding the sun at all costs, charcoal soap, and the occasional cleanser. My skin is quite sensitive & changes with the seasons so I wanted to embark further into the realm of clean + plant based skincare that is vegan, ethical as possible, multi-purposeful.
Apoterra Skincare is beautifully designed skincare line that evokes apothecaries of eras past that is literally a greenhouse compounded into various crafted skincare products. Everything from aloe, rose, to tulsi is incorporated into their repetoire of products.
Apoterra, means “derived from the earth”
Apo = derived from
Terra = earth
Next level cocoa. Creamy, frothy, and in this case iced (because it’s still warm outside) yet filled with luscious flavor crafted in small batches using organic and wild crafted goods. Here I used Sun Potion’s Anandamide (also known as Bliss Alchemy) as the dreamy + herbal version of the hot cocoa. Perhaps like many others, I put value in what I choose to imbibe and perhaps it’s the HSP in me, I get more joy selecting products when you feel like you “know” where your edibles are coming from. This is why I personally love Sun Potion because of the founders’ genuine love + passion to create products that are sustainable & Sun Potion thrives for educating us on the plant science, not just the concept of a product.
To keep it real, I avoided subscription boxes for a few reasons. I questioned how sustainable they could be if there were items you didn’t necessarily need/want, let alone if they gave you an influx of sample products that collect up and typically are not recyclable. Another reason was the concept of things. I wanted to limit material items in my life to what I genuinely want + need.
For those of y’all that don’t know or are new to the blog, mental health + psychological + physical wellbeing are close to my heart and a passion of mine. It’s one of the reasons I work on this blog to empower others to be kind to themselves + the world. We so often hear about self care yet do we truly practice it? You can live in a tranquil area surrounded by the tallest of trees, wildflowers for days yet still feel the weight of stress atop your shoulders.
However, going back to the concept that there are boxes for everyone under the moon, I came across a subscription boxes that is centered around wellness + self-care. Caring Crate defines themselves as:
“a monthly subscription box service for those dealing with mental health issues, chronic illnesses – or anyone who needs a little extra self-care.” This is what drew me to the company, the fact that its rooted in being okay with addressing + assessing yourself regardless of your journey. Chronic illness, autoimmune disease, and mental health are topics we hear about but there are still stigmas surrounding them. However, I will always advocate that our stories matter, our journeys matter, & focusing on our health is not selfish – it’s might.
