REAL TALK: MY ANXIETY & CHILL OUT WITH MUSHROOM HOT COCOA

Stress. It gets the best of me us. Whether it’s work related, something financial (hello tax-season), mercury in retrograde, or something unexpected – stress is just a pain. There are times I let stress get to me, from there it affects my day and then it creates a wave of anxiety and throws me off balance. Sometimes the anxiety simply comes out of nowhere and creates a whole other jam.

Real talk: I do deal with anxiety and have had panic attacks. It was a lot more frequent a few years ago and I truly credit being more in tune with mindfulness and health as a means to understand and curb my anxiety. If I ever feel a lack of control or like my mind is racing I reflect back to these thing choices:

OSEA MORNING + NIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE

As February is self-love month, I figured we could address of aspect of self-care that I am getting better at managing. Skincare has become a priority in recent months. As I work on protecting my skin in my 20s, it’ definitely a work in progress. I try to be conscious of external factors that could be affecting my skin (think: weather, what you consume, and stress), I try to approach it with a steady mind and I completely accept there are days you skin wants a break!

I’ve focused the root of skincare to be: health, quality products for my morning + night routine, and supporting sustainable companies. I’m introducing a favorite botanical based skincare line of mine: OSEA is a luxury skincare line based out of Malibu, California. Their name reflects the company’s roots in a city by the sea, as well as curating their products with seaweeds that are responsibly sourced from the Sea of Patagonia.  Their focus on algae has to do with the abundance of goodness found within: vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. To top it off, their line of skincare is vegan, gluten-free, and certified organic!

GODDESS PROVISIONS FEBRUARY FAERIE BOX

I could write a love song about this subscription box. I’m drawn to three things that seal the deal for me when it comes to making a purchase: aesthetic, quality, and sustainability. Goddess Provisions covers all these bases. Each month, their purpled hued box comes to your doorstep, boxes have their own theme and February’s revolved around “Faerie.” I loved that February was themed around something magical and curative. As you will see in the featured products below, each product really correlates to self love. It’s not about looking your best but feeling your best by rejuvenating (think baths, medicinal mushrooms, and flower water)

Each box will contain 5-7 products that are full sized (which is ideal for me because I don’t like the idea of trial sized products that can accumulate and leave waste). All of the products are vegan, cruelty free, and free shipping (worldwide as well).

WOODLAND CREATURES TOASTS | VEGAN & GF

By nature, I am a visual person. I gravitate toward sight, sounds, and ambiance. This also applies to food! When you bring playfulness into the equation it makes activities livelier, at least in my opinion!

I remember seeing variations on little forest animal toasts. I couldn’t help but swoon over the interpretations of creatures + fauna on edibles (be it lattes, cookies, etc) I think it’s an inventive way for encouraging creativity in the kitchen no matter your age. After all I did top mine with colorful flower crowns because it seemed proper to add an enchanting element.

Simple Kneads is a gluten free bakery where the precious artisanal loaves are baked in small batches at their dedicated gluten free facility in North Carolina. Simple Kneads was created by Tristaun LeClaire whose son developed an allergic reaction to gluten, thus driving him to craft a delicious bread that could also be enjoyed by all. This touched my heart for a similar reason: when I found out I could no longer consume wheat or gluten, you do notice how many edibles are cut out and you truly do miss it, both the taste and the experience.
